Global Traveler, the just monthly magazine for company and luxury tourist, announces Asiana Airlines because the 2011 Airline of the Year and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts because the 2011 Hotel of the Year. This marks the 1st year Global Traveler awarded Airline and Hotel of the Year nods.

We are thrilled to announce these fresh awards and more excited with the inaugural winners, mentioned Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO, Global Traveler. Asiana is continually known for its quality, and the airline delivers a really luxurious experience to passengers. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts are many of the best 5-star properties in the globe.

A chosen panel of Global Traveler employees and Advisory Board members, called the Year Committee, chose the winners, based on info completed through the individual airlines and inns, outside research and experience.

Airlines and inns were invited to participate, and just those invited were considered for honor. Participants submitted an application with pertinent details including financial information, occupancy rates, load things, on-time figures, safety records and menus. Airlines and inns which didn’t submit the needed details were evaluated solely on the independent research of the Year Committee. Once an airline or hotel is chosen, it’s ineligible to participate for 3 years. This year, a total of 32 airlines and twenty inns were asked to participate.

The winners is celebrated at a cocktail event tonight, Dec. 1, 2011, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
